Kenyi Yani Herrera-Acevedo is from Bogotá, Colombia, and completed his undergraduate studies in Chemistry (B.Sc.) at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. During and after graduation, he worked there as a research and laboratory assistant, focusing on the development of sustainable biopolymers for active food packaging, specifically aimed at extending the shelf life of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims). Now pursuing his Ph.D. at Northeastern University, Kenyi is particularly interested in sustainability, materials development, and synthetic chemistry. Outside of the lab, he enjoys watching sports and supporting his favorite soccer team, Independiente Santa Fe, as well as running and playing the Llanera harp.
